How we make money
You are about to let a website tell you whether a price is fair. The first thing you should want to know is who pays that website.
Right now, nobody
CasaClerk currently has no paid relationships of any kind. No affiliate commissions, no referral fees, no sponsored placements, no advertising, and no lead sales. There is no contractor paying to be recommended, because we do not recommend contractors. This sentence is generated from the partner table that our build checks against — if a paid relationship existed, this page could not say it did not.
What we do not sell
- We do not sell your quote, your contact details, or your project to contractors. There is no lead-generation business here. That is the business model of most of the sites that answer “what should this cost”, and it is the reason their numbers run the way they do.
- We do not take money to change a verdict. If that ever became possible, this page would say so and the verdict would be worthless anyway.
- We do not run advertising or retargeting pixels.
What we intend to charge for, eventually
Being straight about the roadmap matters more than being vague about it. The things we expect to charge for are all on the far side of the verdict: helping you get competing bids, financing, and products you might buy after you have decided what the work should cost. None of them should touch whether we tell you a price is high.
The conflict we will have, stated before we have it. The moment CasaClerk earns money when you hire someone, we have a reason to tell you your current quote is bad. That is a real conflict and naming it now is cheap; naming it after the fact is not. When we build it, the commercial side will be walled off from the price model, the disclosure will sit on the verdict itself rather than in a footer, and this page will say exactly who pays us and for what.
Our sources are not sponsored either
Material prices come from retail listings we link to, with the date we checked. Wages come from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The margin band comes from the 2022 Economic Census. No supplier, manufacturer or trade association pays for inclusion, and none has reviewed what we publish. Where we substitute one figure for another we say so in the breakdown rather than smoothing it over. The methodology page has the arithmetic.
Editorial
Nobody outside CasaClerk approves what goes on this site. We publish downsides and watch-outs even when they are inconvenient, and when we get something wrong we correct it in place and say what changed rather than quietly editing the page.
