Terms of use
The part that actually matters is the second section. We put it second instead of burying it, because a tool that tells you a price is fair has to be honest about how much weight that can carry.
Using the site
Using casaclerk.com means you accept these terms. You can use it for your own home projects, and for a property you own or manage. Do not use it to scrape our data in bulk, to resell the output as your own product, to submit documents that are not yours to submit, or to attack the site. We can stop serving anyone doing those things.
You keep ownership of anything you upload. By submitting a quote you give us permission to store and process it as described in the privacy page and in the consent boxes on the upload form — nothing beyond what you ticked.
What this is not
It is not professional advice. We are not licensed contractors, engineers, home inspectors, appraisers, or lawyers, and nothing here is legal, financial, or engineering advice. Our reading of your quote is not a substitute for a second bid from a licensed contractor, and it is not an inspection of the work.
It is an estimate, not a valuation. Our cost figure is built from published material prices, published wage data, an assumed number of crew hours, and a margin band. Real jobs differ for reasons a document cannot show us: the state of your ducts, what is behind the drywall, how far the truck has to park from the door.
A price outside our range is not proof of anything. It is a reason to get another bid. Contractors are not doing anything wrong by being more expensive than our estimate, and a quote that comes in below it may be missing scope rather than offering a deal. We say so on the result page, and we mean it here too.
We also say plainly when we do not know. If our own range comes out too wide, or too much of the job is something we have not measured, we withhold the verdict rather than dress up a guess. That is a feature, and you should treat a withheld verdict as real information rather than a failure.
Decisions are yours
You decide whether to hire someone, negotiate, or walk away. We will not have seen your property, your local market, or the person quoting you. If you act on something here and it goes badly, that is genuinely regrettable and it is still your decision — this is a research tool, not a fiduciary.
To the fullest extent the law allows, CasaClerk is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it. Some jurisdictions do not allow those exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits. Nothing here limits liability for fraud or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Accuracy, and what to do when we are wrong
We try hard to be right and we will be wrong sometimes. Every number we publish carries a source and a date so you can check it yourself rather than take our word for it. If you find an error, tell us at legal@casaclerk.com — we would rather fix it than discover later how many people it reached. Material corrections get noted on the methodology page rather than quietly edited away.
The assistant
The chat assistant can only answer from our own cost and rules data. It is built so that it cannot volunteer a price, a wage, or a legal rule that did not come from a dataset we can point at, and it is instructed to say so rather than fill a gap. It is still software, it can still be wrong, and it is not a lawyer or a contractor either.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the effective date at the top changes when we do. Material changes get called out rather than slipped in. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
